sending failed when sending email

"sending failed" message comes up anytime I try to send an e-mail

THe phone is a Galaxy S3

my ISP is AOL
 
Check the SMTP settings for AOL. (SMTP is "mail sending".) Other possibilities are a bad To: address, but you've probably already checked that out.
