Help Sensation XE screen not responding

Ok so I've had my nice new Sensation XE for a week now, and was getting on with it really well, until Saturday night, when completely out of the blue, the sccreen stopped responding to my touch. I could still use the unlock ring, and enter my sliding dotty password, but once past the lock screen, nothing. The Sense carosel wouldn't spin, and clicking on apps wouldn't do anything. The 4 function buttons still worked, but nothing on the screen itself.

Being an old jailbroken iOS user the first thing I did was turn it off and on again, which seemed to resolve it. I happily went back to my drinking and forgot it happened.

Since then, it happened twice on Sunday, when I was a bit more sober and thinking more clearly. I did some searching both here and on XDA and found out that its actually a fairly common fault with the Sensation after a couple of weeks of use. Luckily, the clever folks at XDA have a number of fixes, so I'm putting them here for easy finding by everyone :D (I would note, i've not tried extending the screen's grounding yet, I simply ran the battery right down, pulled it, left it an hour before replacing it and doing a afull charge, so far so good)

[FIX] Touchscreen issues (related to screen's grounding) - xda-developers

You havnt charged it via USB or a car charger by any chance have you? Seems to be quite a few people over at xda getting this problem after doing the above for the first time.

Sticking to the mains charger only reduces your chance of getting the problem.

Cheers

thanks for the hint - but actually no I haven't - only used the mains charger so far (haven't even connected it to the PC via USB) but I am a terrible culprit for hit and run charging when my juice gets low, 20-30min here or there just to top up the battery.

I have this same problem and have been.through 4 replacements from o2, all with this problem so I think this must be a software issue. The screen freezes unexpectedly and for no reason. I tried pushing the power button and found I could select options there, so this must be a Sense issue.

I had a the same issues. Been talked about elsewhere too. Its problem with a 'loose connection' which means the screen doesnt ground properly and so static electricity build up - interfereing with the touch response.

See: [FIX] [UPDATED] Touchscreen issues - xda-developers for a potential fix.

I folled the instructions re battery removal and then pushed up the silver bit as described.

No issues for 4 days now and screen feels much more responsive.

Good luck.
