Help Sense keyboard word completion

One thing that's annoying me about the Wildfire S is the way the keyboard autocompletes words.

I like the way it suggests words to you, but I don't like the way it switches to its favoured word when you press space.

Is there a way to make it keep your typing on space, but still allow you to tap an alternative suggestion?
