I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with the email client that came on the phone. I use the ISP Aplus.net which includes email servers. I use the Thunderbird email client on my desktop PC. My email is setup as IMAP on that computer and works perfectly.

But if I send an email from my phone, it copies itself many times a minute until I get in and delete it. And I have to shut off the phone and exit from Thunderbird on my desktop to do it.

My wife has the same phone, also uses Thunderbird on her laptop in IMAP mode, and also has an email address on the same server.

Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong and what I can do about it?

Alternatively, is there a better email client that I can replace this one with? Or will I even be allowed to replace it? I've noticed that some things I try to delete refuse to do so.

Thanks

Delete the account from that email client. That won't delete it, but it will render it impotent. Then download GMail or K9 Mail or anything else you prefer. (You can delete the program if you root the phone, but deleting the account is a lot easier and it doesn't void the warranty.)

Are you sure you have the email program in the phone set to IMAP, not POP3 or some other protocol? That could also cause weirdness.

I just checked and the account on the phone is set to IMAP.

I don't use Gmail. I'll look into K9 Mail. Is that a recommendation?

Thanks.

Recommendation? Not really. Most email clients do the same thing, it's just a matter of which one you like better.
