Sent yesterday. Follow up?

I sent an SMS message to someone yesterday and today, underneath the text it says (in blue letters):

Sent yesterday. Follow up?

How can I turn this off so I do not get these notifications anymore? (This is the first time I have ever gotten such a notification)

Thanks.

I haven't seen that one, but it may be Google Messages suggestions if that is the message app you use, or it could be carrier / network related if you have a carrier locked phone.

Messages (Google) - Settings - Suggestions - Smart Reply / (other)

It is the standard MESSAGES app that came with the phone. And I don't want to use a different SMS app. It's not a big deal -- I just thought someone on this forum might know how to turn it off. (and i went into "Settings - Suggestions - Smart Reply" and all options are turned off. )

Unfortunately the "standard" Messages app will depend on what phone you have: for sure both Samsung and Google call their own apps "Messages", I know that HTC used to use that name for their SMS app, and I'd not be surprised if other manufacturers do too. So without knowing what phone you have we can't be sure which app you are using - though from your post it sounds like it might be the Google one unless another has a similar menu structure (I can't help with that app myself as I haven't used it for more than 5 minutes).

I've turned off and on the Auto Reply suggestions recently, and reading what info ie there - yours does sound like (Google) Assistant - suggestions.

It Explains it's only "on - device" intelligence that makes these and Smart Reply suggestions, not Google reading your stuff (a debate for another day) - so I wouldn't be surprised if it gave a prompt the next day.
While I think I turned off Google Assistant itself, it may still work in Messages if it's left on.
You unswitched everything now so let us know if it still interferes.

I turn off Chat Features as well, although it was on when I looked (and you may need that) but you can turn it off in Message Settings as well.

i have this feature on my z fold 3. i do not see how to turn it off. but for me it does not come with any notification. it just jumps the older text message to the top of the list of conversations with the added "sent yesterday, follow up" underneath the conversation. its never been annoying and has helped me to actually follow up with a client if i had not gotten a response yet.

and @Hadron doing a search for nudges on my phone does not come up with anything, so i'm not sure if this is a samsung thing or google has added it in with the messaging app without anyway to disable it.

I've done a little web searching and found references to a "nudges" feature being added to this app. Do you have anything like that in its settings? Because this sounds exactly like what you are seeing:

That seems exactly what it must be, reading that link.

I didn't look at that because I just saw Birthday reminders.

Odd that mine was turned on and I never got a pop up like the OP's. I mustn't live an interesting life.

Speaking of which though @Hadron : we're both Men of the World, of a certain age and experience, we both have had the company of a lady... of an evening (or part of in my case),

we... well I'm sure you.. I mean...

Nudge Nudge.... Wink Wink
Say No MORE!!

Know what I mean?

Well....

"What's it Like?" ;)

Still with me? I couldn't resist!

(Maybe I should find the sketch for our American friends.)

The "nudges" setting is visible in the Madd63's screenshot, just above the orange highlight they added. I briefly enabled Google's Messages app on my phone, allowed it to update, and can confirm the same setting was present.
hahaha.....ok i just found it....yeah its in the message settings>suggestions>nudges>>turn off "messages that may need a reply or follow up will move to the top

FWIW In the "standard MESSAGES" app that came with my Samsung phone I have...

I never use this feature myself. Of course the stock Messages app and its features can vary, depending on whatever it is device you've actually got there.
