Is SEO (Search Engine Optimization ) differ from ASO (App Store Optimization)..
What are the latest techniques for ASO...?

Similar concepts, but SEO is concerned with rankings in search engines (which may have nothing whatsoever to do with mobile apps) while ASO is concerned with visibility in app stores specifically.

When trying to keep a forum like this one usable for its members, SEO is the enemy, since we get vast amounts of spam and fake accounts from SEO campaigns (which the staff have to waste a lot of time keeping from clogging up the forum). Being a cynic, when people say ASO I first think of fake reviews and techniques to artifically boost download numbers, i.e. techniques to convince the public that an app is better and more popular than it really is. If there are methods of improving visibility without misleading the public then that's great, and please stick to those .

SEO ( Search Engine Optimizing ) is for Websites.

ASO ( App Store Optimizing ) is for Mobile Apps.

So lets elaborate.

SEO is manipulating search algorithm to get better ranks for websites , used by the web developers and web marketers to optimize web site to increase search visibility (SERP) over various search engines like Google ,Yahoo , Bing etc . SEO is the easy way to get more organic traffic without spending a lot for ads. SEO include Backlinks,Blog Posting,Social Media Bookmarks etc

ASO is used to increase rank over app stores ( Google play store , Apple iTunes , Windows stores ) like if you search for ‘ Video Player ‘ #1 , #2 & #3 positioned app will have better chance to get downloaded by the users. Methods of doing ASO are Title Optimization , Descrption optimization , Screenshot optimization , Video etc.

These are definitely different things. The software used to develop and promote an application is completely different and different from developing websites.
