Serious Issues Since OS Update

i'm using an older Motorola Droidx pending locating my new phone. I downloaded an app which said i was running a old OS and needed to update. i updated to version 4 and I've encountered nothing but problems: whenever i try to open either a preloaded or downloaded app, a message pops up saying the app isn't responding and i hit wait followed by hitting menu/back buttons and app opens; apps I'd downloaded and run vanish; keeps saying I'm not connected when i am; has deleted some settings such as network connections, occasionally try openings an app, get another; sometimes kicked off an app; the phone is slow in every respect. is there anything i can do? should i revert to the prior OS and if so, where do get it? Thanks for the help.

Hi Thom. Thanks for your reply. i did as you suggested. The phone has been performing as it did before I updated the OS, essentially pretty fast
i am, however, still getting messages that I'm not connected. programs aren't responding (they do open I hit wait, and sometimes either the menu or backspace buttons) and accessing the play store is kinda hard sometimes.

I tried downloading some mp3s, which all failed, and since my normal cell is MIA (probably in the pocket of some %$4/%_:$*,) and is paid up, I'd sure like to have music on the SD card. Also, I'm trying to get a wifi app that works. I've tried the 4 more popular one with no success.

Finally, this is a Verizon phone and I'm with Metro, which used CDMA as well as a GSM network, but that's all i know. in the event i don't recover my phone in a couple of days, how would i go about unlocking it and having my number assigned to the Droidx?

Any guidance you can offer would be so appreciated. Thanks again for your help.

Did you Wipe Cache Partition after the upgrade deleting all temporary file and not touching permentat files, apps you added, or settings?

See ...

... for the way to do it.

Make sure you do NOT accidently select Factory Data Reset. It will wipe everything.

one last thing. a few black lines appeared on the screen and i read it might have to do with developer options. i read a little about it and one said to go to About Phone in Apps and hit Build Number 7 times. I tried that about 10 times, then tried hitting it 1, 2 3, etc. thinking I might get lucky. As it turns out, my luck there was as good as it is when I play the lotto. Any ideas?

When you go to About Phone what model does it report? What Android version does it report? Are you root-ed?

You are in a forum for a 7 year old phone that was designed for exclusive use on a Verizon network. If that is the phone you are using I am frankly surprised that you get as much out of it as you have been.

i updated to version 4
What does that mean? The latest version of Android released for the Droid X was apparently 2.2.
