Root Service Issue

I recently reactivated my cell service with boost but my phone refuses to connect to their network.

I can't program the f***in' thing via the ##(number)# business, and some googling revealed that I have to flash to a stock ROM.

So, my question is, if I flash to stock ROM, and then I get service, and use CWM to restore what I had before, would I still have service?

What baseband should I use? I have FF19. is there a newer one?

CWM is a recovery, not a ROM. It has nothing to do with which ROM you're running.

Do you need a stock ROM? Plenty of people use custom ROMs in the Prevail. I don't think the custom ROM is the issue. The ROM may be bad, it may be a Precedent ROM - which will not work in a Prevail, even though they're basically the same phone ... there are many possibilities, but just the fact that you're running a custom ROM isn't one of them.

Well something is clearly preventing me from getting a signal, and I can't program the phone (unless someone has a suggestion/solution to programming the MSL stuff).

I can only assume that there's a setting I am unable to access via the ##(number)# method which leads me to believe the ROM is to blame. Which, I forgot to mention, is CyanogenMod 7

EDIT: So I used odin to re-flash to stock and after a few error messages and a reboot, I have cell service. now to get back CM7 and all the stuff I had. <_>

You need to put half ass rom on and then access the hidden menu and when all done just restore your now rom and all should be good. You can't access the hidden menu on cm.

I figured it out. Sorta.

Flashed to stock ROM, after some error messages and reboots the phone finally configured itself. now I'm trying to go back to cm7 but its not rooted. its been a while since I've done this. @.@

You will have to re root your phone through Odin. Basically following the rooted for dummies guide. That's why if you use half ass rom you would not have lost root and had to redo then when you're done you would just flash your old backup of cm7.
