Root Set CPU profiles

I have a few profiles on my set cpu app (mostly for battery saving) such as the clock being greatly reduced when the screen is off but i cant really tell if it is making a diffrence. I was wondering if i was wasting my time? lol

It actually depends really on your settings .Personally I dont use profiles .Governors are for that purpose .

Now lets say if you have 245-600 for screen on and 245-320 for screen off but the governor is conservative for both then it will make NO difference if you have say 245-600 with no profile, since the governor will set the freq. to 245 when your load is low i.e like screen off anyway.

But lets say you like performance and if you have 245-600 on screen on and 245-245 on screen off with governor as performance then you will notice a difference w.r.t 245-600 with performance governor .Since performance makes the speed 600 Mhz for all .

Using SetCPU profiles with Conservative and ondemand governors is meaning less since they already do the said job .

Same is with custom governors like SavagedZen,brazilianwax,scary,minimax,interactive,interactiveX,smartass,smartassV2,lagfree .Absolutely No NEED of Profiles

The only use of profiles is if you use it with performance governor and you want to control every aspect of processing power for a given task.Which actually is a pain and it need serious tweaking before you can actually have favorable results .

ok so what if i was at 245-729 performance and i set a profile of 245-245 performance? would that be pointless or would it be smarter to go with ondemand and leave it at that?

karandpr thank you for that great info, very helpful. I just have one profile set ( screen off ) and it's set to 122min-245max smartass2 gov. with 100% priority. The main scaling sets are 245min-768max smartass2 gov. With Bobz CM7 i had 15+ hours off the charger with regular use. With Sense rom i had, 1 day 5 hours off the charger with moderate use.

what governor were you using with the sense rom?

On the screen off i used performance so the phone wouldn't delay on wake up because of the low sets ( 122min-245max ) 100% priority. Main scaling was set to ondemand 245min-768max. I also had my screen brightness set low. I had excellent battery life, 13-15 hours of regular use off the charger. And 1 day and 5 hours off the charger with moderate use.

It's actually dependent on your usage . If you have moderate to lower moderate usage with atleast 37-50% screen off then use 122-245 ondemand or InteractiveX screen off profile .

Below 37 % screen off it's pointless since it's better to find a nice governor .
I think Savaged Zen/SmartassV2/Interactive X will be better off for all round usage without profiles .

I dont go for any frequency above 600Mhz for daily usage . I amp it up to 691Mhz-787Mhz InteractiveX for playing HD games and MKV Videos .

For normal daily usage I use 245-480 Mhz conservative governor .

But you need to work out your desire frequency sets with constant usage .
