Set volume individually per program

Like the function introduced since Windows Vista you can in the Volume Mixer control the audio volume individually for each application using the soundcard and this feature I LOVE.

Does android provide this in any of the Android versions?

No, I have about 250 apps, at least 100 of which use sound. Setting each volume would be incredibly annoying. I use widgetsoid, you can set from one little toggle the volume for ringer, notification, media, alarm, voice calls, and system volume, along with nine other toggles if you choose. It has always been enough for me.

I can't imagine setting volume for each app...that would drive me insane.

i don't think you understand.

In windows 7 as my example you do not need to set any individual volume settings for anything unless you have specifics wants and needs.

I don't see why you're against this idea since it's certainly not going to bother you on any other mature OS.

I keep winamp at 50% of system volume for example. so it'll be less sensitive when i change volume for media player while keeping outlooks new e-mail sound at a constant level. I'm not sure if i explained this properly but i hope you see what I mean.

Now having done extensive reading on android slate reviews I'm more interested in buying one but i keep running into scenarios where It's simpler to use windows instead, the trade off being the decreased NUI experience.

I have my android phone which is pretty decent. But I'm not sure android is ready for replacing windows for me just yet.

I think you may have a valid point, but for me it has always been a pain managing volume in Windows. Frequently I'll hear no sound from youtube, or from Windows Media player, and more often than not, I'll have to open the sound console, and see that the .WAV sound was set to zero, even while the main sound control was set to medium, or Vice versa, or some other volume control. It's pretty annoying to me.

I don't think Android is meant to replace Windows. Nor can Windows replace Android. They each have their own place in technology, at least for now.

With Tasker you could setup specific starting volume levels for each app while it's in the foreground. For example, each time Slacker becomes the foreground app, Tasker could set the media volume to 7, and you could still subsequently change it using the volume rocker. But once another app moves to the foreground, its settings (if any) would take precedence.

You could use individual notification sounds for apps, and adjust the volume in the file itself, causing each app to have its own notification volume level.

sooo, long time no see :)

I figured since I love listening to creepypastas and horror audio books that while that plays in, say poweramp it would be awesome if i could in say viral pro or tubemate or whatever stream some binueral beats or ambient music in the background. So atleast i found a solution for playing 2 audio streams at once, but lowering one into the background so I can hear the narration would rock.

still no solution right? It would be nice not needing the laptop running next to the bed and actually using that comparatively expensive smartphone for something so seemingly basic..
