Root SetCPU - Help? :)

I guess you've checked partial wake usage, but what is the typical time the phone spends awake in the 15 hours or so you get? What do your "time in state" stats in SetCPU look like (how much time at highest vs lowest speeds)?

If those seem ok, and you are not spending much time in fringe signal areas, don't have something using GPS in the background, etc, the final resort may be knackered battery - by now most of our batteries have been through hundreds of cycles, and I'm sort of surprised mine isn't worse than it is. But I'd check cpu, sensor, network first.

yeah i have checked all that and its fine. you are not the first person to say i have a crappy battery after having it as long as i have lol

found this on another site :)

Contrary to popular belief, particularly on that 'other' site, wiping battery stats does not calibrate a battery. The proper calibration process, detailed below, forces the battery to re-learn it's true capacity, as the capacity of a battery diminishes with age and usage.
To calibrate, follow these steps carefully and in the order given:
  1. Plug the charger in with the phone turned on.
  2. Charge until the notification LED turns green.
  3. Unplug the charger and turn the phone off.
  4. Plug the charger back in with the phone turned off.
  5. Charge until the notification LED turns green.
  6. Unplug the charger and turn the phone on.
  7. Once the phone has booted completely, turn it off again.
  8. Plug the charger back in with the phone turned off.
  9. Charge until the notification LED turns green.
  10. Your battery should now be correctly calibrated

Dangerous for battery. Method I posted only.

Have you tried turning off background sync and/or 3g for a day to see if things improve? That would confirm the problem.

Also what is the top app in partial wake usage, and what value is it giving? Though I'm assuming from what you've written it isn't high?

If you press the graph at the top of the standard battery usage screen, it will show you when the phone was awake, wi-fi on, screen on & phone signal, which might be useful too. I discovered TB was turning my phone's display on while backing up in the middle of the night through that.

Changing min to 128 has given me a real boost in battery life.

If I'm not using it, I lose only about 0.6-0.7% per hour.

battery was most poor today - only lasted from 0800 until around 14:00 where it was at 45% :( has been poor for a week or so i think - maybe since flashing manu :/ cant be totally sure

i did notice that when charging now with phone on, the green charged light comes on when it gets to 90% full ....but i have done at least 2 battery stats resets :/

ive not noticed any improvement at all with setCpu app running

yes if i turn 3g off the battery life is improved a lot - but then that kills the point of having it i guess :/ so am going to try the Tasker route for managing 3g data i think

cheers
dan

Charging light turning green at 90% is a feature of most AOSP ROMs (Gingervillain is an exception).

I must admit that 64% of time at 128 is lower than I normally see - in fact my current 75% is lower than I'd expect on a low usage couple of days, but that might be down to my using a test kernel at the moment.

:D ah - ok thanks Hadron - that explains that one then :D

just got Tasker - so need to do some readin on profiles and the like

cheers

.....ouch! my head hurts now :/ :D hoping i can track down a simple 3g/h data on/off profile.......

I'm 83% 128. Dan, I think you have a set-up issue. Something is stopping your phone sleeping. Did you check partial wake usage in the end?

With Spare Parts you can find it under "Battery History" (also with Android System Info or Quick System Info - I have too many of these things! ;))

thanks Hadron :-)
with spare parts it shows my email app as top in the partial
list but only about 3 mins it seems

....i think i might have created a 3g on/off profile in tasker!! :D lets see......

I DONT BELIEVE IT - IT WORKED!! :D awesome

just need to amend profile so that it doesnt turn off when im using it ...... might take some work that :D

...oh, it stopped :/ no idea why - and wont go active now

Try the Tasker wiki or search the Tasker Google group - it's quite probable someone will have written one already (or similar).

The email one may be the issue if it is polling the server often enough prevent the phone from sleeping, even if it doesn't run for long itself?

cool thanks.

a very nice person here on AF wrote me a better script that actually works :-D

Cool. I would have looked into it but I've got a couple of Tasker issues myself so I didn't think I could have got a reliable one written. :o

back on stock redux2 now. I did notice that I had gmail and exchange mail both
syncing :-\ so that can't help. stopped gmail.

cheers
