SetCPU or not?

Hey guys.I have a rooted Samsung Galasy S+ and I want performance and power save in the same time. What do I mean by this?I want my phone to underclock its processor to minimum when the screen is off and to use all the resources when an app requires that. After googling a bit I found SetCpu.I set it to reduce CPU's frequency to 150 mhz when the screen in off and to go to 1 ghz when the screen is on(I have 1.4 ghz here but isn't that too much and too power consuming?).I then explored the governors and I found that ondemand sets CPU's frequency according to its usage BUT I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT ANDROID OS IS CODED TO DO THAT.So is SetCpu useless for me?

You can use SetCPU to further tweek your CPU settings. For example, your device by default may only underclock to 300 MHz when the screen is off, but using SetCPU, you can change that to 150 MHz if you wish. You can also choose which governers you want the CPU using. Have a look here. It nicely explains what the different governers do.

So really, the purpose of SetCPU is to further tweak the CPU frequencies and voltages beyond the default settings that come with your device/ROM.
