Root SetCPU

For those with sluggishness when resuming or just plain whenever.

I've always had SetCPU installed but never tweaked the settings. Well after seeing others state it was better with it set to 200-300mhz minimum it resumes and runs better. So I tried it and it does indeed, but at the same time it really kills the battery faster. So I tried the max at 700-800mhz. Lasted longer but not as long as before.

So Long story short, I wanted to see it without SetCPU settings, and to do that I uninstalled it. Well tell you what...Battery lasts much longer, no lag from resume, and over all it just runs much smoother without SetCPU installed.

So if your having any lag at all, just try it without SetCPU installed. Most of us installed it just for having root. But for my TU its better without.

Just letting everyone know my findings.
Thanks
-Pete

Have you tried No-frills CPU controller? I'm set at 1.024 GHz all day long and run great, i still get amazing battery life. There is also a governor and I/O scheduler, I'm always usually running NetQ, Super manager, ADW, Android Booster, and Wifi/3g along with the stock stuff that runs.

What do you mean "amazing battery life"? Is anyone who actually uses their phone regularly getting anything better than ~36 hours?

getting anything better than ~36 hours?
36 hours??? using it regularly??? maybe if i only use it to check the time regularly... without any other use, and quickly locking the screen... then i might be able to get 36 hours.... i wish i could get 36 hours with this phone... hell a full 24 with moderate use would even be nice.... lol

You're doing it wrong..

Airplane mode at all times.. setcpu to 166mhz upper and lower. And freeze all apps non essential to android running...

I get 36 hours and 1 minute :D

Really? I feel a little better on average then. I get about 36 hours if I just use my phone for calls, texting, and the occasional Google. This is with Juice Defender and SetCPU between the lowest setting and ~1.5 GHz (while active), and clocked down to the second or 3rd lowest setting whilst the screen is off.

I was expecting some of you to be getting 2 or 3 days of battery. I just removed SetCPU today because of this thread, haven't really testing the difference yet.

Lovely program suggestions! Thank you! :)

I got over 61 hours, and had 1% left decided to go ahead and start charging again. I used the phone quite bit over this period of time too not just constant standby.

There is truth to this. I uninstalled SetCPU and installed No-frills CPU controller (I tried the other apps mentioned but didn't like them). I easily hit 48 hours, going to do a full charge, re-calibrate my battery, and give a better estimate.

I did forget to mention that i uninstalled NetQin, Android Booster, Super manager, and some useless apps, other than that i still run ADW Launcherand no frills cpu and a few of my personal mods I'm running 43 hours right now with 29% left last time i had 47 hours and 30% used i'll let you know the end result.

I ended up going for 68 hours even though the screenshot says 66 i let it die to the end this time. I also know that there is a cpu controller in ROM Toolbox if anybody wants to try just that and see if they get better time just a thought. I also never tested without Juice Defender, or ADW Launcher so times still might be able to be even better. Also i was playing alot of emulator games this time around i thought my time was going to be worst. Obviously i thought wrong, but i'm thinking SetCPU is causing all your problems. Ill let you guys know my next time i'm going to dump no-frills for just the rom toolbox controller let you know how it works out

Yeah, what settings is your no frill on?

I don't see any difference than stock.

Stock is already
1.024 ghz
245 mhz
ondemand
cfg

Maybe that is why my battery is better without setCPU.

Last I remember ill have to flash back and double check, but I was clocked to 1.024 all the time but had the govenerer on and cfq but there's a noop setting too. I was thinking about just making a backup for everyone ill have to boot up the labtop when I'm not busy this week sometime and get started!
