Help Setting individual tones

Hi, I'm completely new to android and the Z1 is my first step into the unknown. There are many reasons I've jumped ship from Apple (stale, overpriced) but a big reason was customisation.

now my issue I'm currently having on the Z1is I can't for the life of me figure out how (if at all possible) to set individual text notification sounds for different contacts

I can set individual phone ringtones but text Is just a generic across the board sound for all contacts (I could even do this on Apple!)

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't find anywhere how to do it also how do I change Facebook notification sounds and email and so on I'm lost!

Welcome to the forums!

You can't do it using the stock messaging/contacts app (not that I've managed to find anyway), but take a look at Light Flow, that should do what you're asking.

Install, open the app head, head to notifications, then press the head and shoulders icon in the top right corner.

I've the paid version, but I'm pretty sure I've seen people mention the same functionality is there with the free version too.

As El Presidente said I don't think you can have individual notifications for specific contacts (unless the app he suggested works). But with regards for different notifications for Facebook, email etc, the setting for these are usually in App, eg, Facebook open up Facebook app, press the menu button top left, scroll down to App Settings, scroll down to notification ringtones and change there.
Gmail, open up Gmail App, menu button (top right), settings, then click your email address, click the "Inbox sound & vibrate" (4th option down). The option for sound is there.

Hi @savagerobot thanks for replying the lightflow app dies what I need for most things but doesn't cover FB in the free app so I'll have to upgrade as even with the way you suggested by going into the app settings it still doesn't allow me to alter the notification

I only get the option to uninstal the latest update and a list of things the app uses on my phone

Oh no I don't mean go into the app settings, if you actually open up the Facebook app, so you see the news feed etc, then press the menu button on the top left (or swipe left edge screen to right) you should see something along the lines of attached pic. Then select app settings and scroll down to notification ringtone.
