Help Setting my own ringtone

Funkiller

Lurker
How do you set your own ringtone? For example, if I want to use a favorite song instead of their basic ringtones. I assume I have to get music into the phone first. Not sure how to do that, but once that is accomplished, how do I then make it a ringtone. Thanks much!

I simply made a folder in my SD card named Ringtones and put all my ringtones in there. The phone will pick them up. Then when youu go to choose a ringtone it'll be there. (You may have to turn the phone off then on again to force it to rescan media.)

No SD card yet. Any way to save it directly to the phone? Not sure how to set up a folder either. Sorry. Very new to this phone. Thanks for your help.

Well, as a temporary fix, I just downloaded the Zedge app from Google Play and was able to pick something from there. Already better than before. :)

Plug your Centura into your computer via the USB port. If you're using Windows it will show up under "My Computer" in Vista & XP and Windows 7 or "This PC" in Windows 8.1 as Device SCH-S738C. The internal memory that it comes with will show up as USB Storage and your SD Card when you get one and install it will show up as SD Card. Both will display with a hard drive type icon inside the SCH-S738C Device. Click on the USB Storage in Windows and look for the Ringtones folder. If there isn't one off the main directory create one and place all your MP3 Ringtones there. The phone should see them immediately when you go to Settings>Sounds>Ringtones. If not reboot the phone and it will find them.

Any MP3 can be used but MP3's that have been specifically trimmed down to under 30 seconds will perform best. The above instructions also work for notification sounds only those will need to be placed in a directory called Notifications. IE: "You've Got Mail" email notifications will go there.

That's exactly what I was looking for Steve. Thanks so much! I do have something on my phone called Ringtone Maker that should aid in cutting the track down to 30 seconds. In the meantime, I'll enjoy hearing Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" when my phone rings. :)

I like switching between the theme song from the US version of the tv show "Shameless" and the theme song to the British show "Misfits". Glad I could help. :D
