Help Setting Up New MAXX

OK... I have some set up questions for my new MAXX, they are as follows:

1. I use Exchange Server 2010 (SherWeb) to sync all my contacts, email, et al.

2. I use Microsoft Outlook 2010 for all my email and contact information.

I am moving from an old Samsung i760 which is a Windows Mobile device. Any special set up instructions?

Thank you.

.

Sorry that I do not have any answers for you, in fact I am tacking on to your question.... I use Outlook 2010 also, and while I 'own' a Gmail account, I have never used or synched it with my Droid Incredible... is there a way to use Gmail only for saving my contacts but sync mail with Outlook 2010 on the MAXX?

My MAXX should get here tomorrow... I did back up with Backup Assistant as well as the Wirefly service... what I really do not like is if a listing has multiple phone numbers and email addresse, they each get saved as a separate contact... will it be hours of work to get all the numbers and emails back together with their correct person or company listing? Is there a better backup method for contacts that I could try before I have to set up my phone?

steelpastor...Please post up how this setup went for you. I'm thinking of getting a Droid Razr Maxx (coming from Droid Incredible). I also use Sherweb (2007 Exchange server). The native Exchange client for email on my Incredible was unreliable so I used third party app Touchdown which has many more features anyway like the ability to search the server and better subfolder account management. However, Touchdown was extremely slow syncing contacts (I have 2700+) so I used the native Exchange client for contacts only. Calendar sycning was the same for either native or Touchdown so coin toss there.

The problem I had with the native Exchange for email was that chunks of email would disappear from the phone, like a group of 5 emails and then a group of 15. It was very sporadic. The emails were still on the server and in Outlook though. This happened twice months apart as I figured to try the native Exchange program again and ended up using Touchdown again.

If you're on an Exchange server (either your own or hosted) you can sycn your email and calendar only. And sync your Gmail contacts using the Gmail app. If you're not on a Exchange server, the only way to sync Outlook is most likely plugging the USB cable into your computer. You could also share your Outlook calender with Gmail and autoforward all your Outlook mail to Gmail and use Gmail to sync everything.

That's what I do. I sync Outlook to Google. Google syncs with my phone seamlessly.
