Help Setting up pop3 email

Terri_M

Lurker
I'm a brand new Android user with one issue.

I want to set up my personal (comcast.net) email to sync to the phone. And it does that fine, plus I can send email fine. But I want to get to the incoming mail settings to set the "Delete email from server" to No. I've done every other time I've set up a pop3 email account to sync with a separate device.

I found the instructions here:
www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=168534&topic=29826#1086438
and here:
www.knowyourcell.com/lg/lg-revoluti...imap_email_accounts_on_the_lg_revolution.html
These both show settings I am familiar with and expected to see. But my Revolution doesn't seem to behave the same way when I go into the email settings for that account. I don't have those options.

A support request to Verizon came back with this response:
"when you delete email from your device using your Comcast account, your email will delete from the server at Comcast. At this time there isn't a setting available to change this option. I apologize for the inconvenience."

Is there no way to get to these settings? I'm a bit flummoxed, and will have to think of some new strategy to make sure I don't lose email I want to keep in my central storage on my PC.

Is the email program on the Revolution a different program than the one documented on the google.com site?

Thanks for any help you can give!
- Terri

P.S. Seems I'm not allowed to post links, so I apologize for however those come out.

I ran into the same wall with the email and the best way I found is to just use the web browser on the phone to access email.

What pissed me off was my phone bleeping me awake at 3 am for junkmail, lol

No setttings on the Revo for leaving messages on the server, so that is that, at least till the next update, ..... Maybe who knows?

The only setting that may help you is the "ask before deleting" box. At least you would be the one to hit the delete key.

I'd suggest using google mail to pull the mail from comcast. It can then be labelled as such when you receive it, google spam filters will be applied; and you can reply using your comcast id if desired.

Check out the info in google mail under pop3.

I just remember a method I use for another purpose that will work.
Setup a second email account,
Automatically forward a copy of your email to the new account (I do this at the server level)
Have you phone only monitor the new account.

The trick is the forwarding done up on the server, I am not sure if your provider provides this option, mine does.
