Setting up Visual Voicemail "A communication error has occurred."

I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile and was set up with visual voicemail by the rep opening my account. However, I get a "communication error" when trying to set up the Visual Voicemail app. Is anyone else getting this?
 
i had the same problem... the message also said that my account wasn't authorized for visual voicemail, and that i had to upgrade my account.

i called 611 for t-mobile customer service, and they did the account upgrade for me. the upgrade is free.
