Setting wallpaper

What's the proper way to set wallpaper so that max resolution is used? I've downloaded some great 2560x1600 images, but no matter if i use Gallery, QuickPic, my file explorer or the wallpaper option in Settings, I end up with a cropped & zoomed image that defeats the purpose of having a high resolution display.

I understand there has to be cropping to satisfy both landscape and portrait views, so maybe the solution is not to start with a 16:10 A/R, but something more square (?). Any advice?

I had the same problem. Its set like that so that the wallpaper will scroll with the wallpaper, thus the wallpaper does need to be actually larger than 2560x1600 to have the full resolution attained. A very easy workaround (and what I do) is to first of all download wallpaper wizardrii (or something similar). Then go to settings in wizardrii and click *no scrolling*. Then, all 2560x1600 wallpapers should work perfectly in full resolution.
