Help Settings for data connection

I have in the last couple of days joined the '3' (three) network in the UK (don't know if they are known abroad).

I phoned their customer services for the settings so that I can use the data connection as the text which is supposed to have been sent did not arrive.

There seemed to be a lot of settings that could be input but the lady I was speaking to only told me to type in two or three (if I remember correctly).

I'm just wondering if more of the settings was filled in would it be better on how the phone connects to the internet?

What are all the other settings used for if I did not have to fill them in?

Name – 3 Internet
APN - three.co.uk
Proxy, Port, Username, Password & Server - Please leave blank
MMSC - http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
MMS PROXY - mms.three.co.uk
MMS Port - 8799
MCC - 234
MNC - 15
Authentication type - None
APN type - Internet & MMS (If no selection available , leave blank )

All I have is:

Name - 3 Services
APN - three.co.uk
MCC - 234 (which was already set)
MNC - 20 (which was already set and I don't know why you have a different number)
APN type - default

Everything else says 'not set'.

That's why I asked the question: Do I need to input the settings you mention, and why did the lady leave them blank?

I should mention that this is my first smartphone so I am not used to all these settings.
