Settings Reset and Exit Tasks

Hi folks. Pretty new to Android and Tasker. Recently switched from iPhone. Loving my new Verizon Galaxy S4. I am rooted and have Tasker and helper app installed.

I have a question: I see that some actions taken in a profile task are automatically reset upon exiting the task and some are not.

I know that I can create an exit task for a profile. The question is: Can I create an exit task that only resets the actions that are not automatically reset upon exit? Or once I create an exit task will nothing automatically
reset?

Thanks. I am really looking forward to taking advantage of the expertise of you all in this forum. Tasker is am amazing app but I am at the bottom of the learning curve right now.

No, what I mean, for instance, is if I change the screen timeout in an action, then the action exits, the screen timeout will be automatically restored to its original value. And there are lots of things that get restored to their original values upon task exit but not everything. I am trying to figure out how to handle the things that are not without disrupting the automatic restores that normally take place.

Built in variables %VOLA / %VOLC / %VOLD / %VOLM / %VOLN / %VOLR / %VOLS carry the current volume level for a certain sound type. These are the most commonly "reset" things I see people use but there are a bunch here

You can save this value to a different variable before you change it, and in your exit task set the changed volume or whatever to whatever the variable you created was named (click what looks like the shuffle button in the corner to switch to a variable instead of the slider)

I really appreciate that link. But my original question still doesnt seem answered. If I code an exit task will the variables that normally get reset on task exit still get reset?

You could change the volume back at the end of the enter task if you want to avoid an exit task. Or could manually reset whatever fields in the exit task.

Trial and error is your best friend with stuff like this
