Help Settings

When I go into System Settings, then Application Manager, the loading circle spins for about 10 seconds, the stops and I get a pop-up that says Settings has stopped. It just started doing this about 3 days ago.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Android version 6.0.1. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Try restarting your Note 5 in 'Safe Mode' and then try getting into the Application manager. Hopefully this will work in Safe Mode, then swipe over to the 'ALL' column, scroll down to the 'Settings' app, tap the 'Force stop' button, then the 'Clear cache' button; you might also want to do a 'Force stop' and 'Clear cache' on the TouchWiz app, then of course be sure to do a normal restart.

Thanks for the reply, but it didn't work. 'Force Stop' made 'Settings' close. I cleared the cache and even cleared the cache of the whole phone. Application Manger still won't load. Weird thing is, everything else in System Settings still works.

Are you referring to clearing the caches through the option in Settings or clearing the actual system cache partition? They're two different tasks, the former being the app caches for user apps that you've installed and the latter being the protected operating system cache. If you haven't cleared the system cache partition it would be something to try to see if that helps fix your Application manager problem. The system cache is separate from your app caches so wiping it won't affect your personal data or any settings you've made to your apps. You need to boot your Note into its Recovery Mode to do this:

You might also want to use a web browser, log into your Google account, and check what apps you've installed recently. I don't think something you've installed will affect the Applications manager on your Note like that but take a look at anything you've installed recently. Maybe a utility that alters/enhances your phone's menus or something like that? :

You mentioned this problem starting about 3 days ago, can you think of anything that happened on your Note just prior to that? A system update maybe?

I did both, I just wasn't sure how to describe it. The only thing that has happened in the last few days is our Internet connection got an upgrade of some sort. After it was done, everyone else's phones and tablets were fine. My phone didn't have internet (and somehow everything connects on my 3DS, except Pokemon). I tried to connect and Mom's password didn't work. She did something on the modem page and then all my stuff connected. I'm having no problem with my tablet. Just the phone.

Curious if there's a tie in between your Application manager failure and this Internet upgrade connectivity problem with your Note. Have you tried deleting then re-adding your home WiFi entry in Settings >> Wi-Fi? Also, if you disable WiFi on your Note, does your Application manager crash when it's connected to just your Mobile data?

There's the last resort option of doing a Factory Reset, but be absolutely sure you've got all your personal data backed up.
