Help SG S5 externary storage

Hello all.

My Galaxy S5 is no longer allowing me to move my apps to the sd storage. My phone is not rooted but recently updated I don't fancy rooting the phone as I like to keep it simple.
It is now getting more unusable by the day as I'm deleting apps which I use regularly just to keep it running.

I am preparing myself for a thousand comments saying this has already been covered but any answers I find relate to 2014 when this is a very recent issue for me and the phone allowed me to transfer many apps until recently.

Look forward to replies that let me get this sorted.

If you just updated to Marshmallow, the sdcard is handled differently. You can format it as internal storage. https://liliputing.com/2015/10/android-6-0-can-treat-sd-cards-as-internal-storage-at-a-cost.html

First, remove it and migrate the data to a computer, put the sdcard back in and start the device. If you want to format internal, follow these directions.

What a great answer and i hope it works out well (Currently in the process).
I cant be the only one that gets cought out with these things I wish updates came with a guide manual for you to read and not just give you all the info at the one time after the update.

Well, since the S5 just recently got updated it has come up a few times. Updating to a new Android operating system is a big step sometimes. Similar to upgrading Windows. There are always many new things to learn. That's one of the things the Internet is good for ( very short list).
Hope everything works out.

Hello, Unfortunately I still have a problem, I removed my SD stored all my photos etc then put the SD card in the phone and formatted it i cannot find or get prompted to set it up to use as a any storage other than sepperate SD card as it used to be.
I am running 6.0.1 which may have been updated since I had made the original post, It now appears that a verry few amount of applications can be moved to the sd card as before but i am still running out of storage.
I used to like the phone but now it is a right pain.

Format the Memory Card

1. From the home screen, tap and drag the Notifications bar downwards.
2. Tap the Settings icon.
3. Scroll to, then tap Storage.
4. If the memory card has not already been mounted, tap Mount SD card.
5. Tap Format SD card.
6. Tap Format SD card.
7. Tap Erase everything to confirm.

Damn. I wish I'd have dug a little deeper sorry.

Hello as an update to this situation,
As above i was not able to format the card in such a way.
A change is that now with some apps being updated I can now move a few of them to the SD card this however is a right hassle compared to how it used to be done, I had been able to first organise apps by size then scroll down and switch a tab to select SD storage "simples" the only downside was I would have to redo this when the apps updated as they seem to want to be set to phone storage as a default.
Now all apps are only alphabeticalised and I have to open up the storage tab select change then select SD then confirm all of which takes an age.

I can see myself rooting in the near future and no more loyalty to Samsung.
