Hey guys I am going to South America for a while and I am looking a good international phone that will get 3G in most places.
I ordered the GT-I9300 on eBay since it seemed that it is the most versatile, in terms of being able to work in any country, but I received the unlocked T-Mobile version instead(SGH-T999).
My question is which phone will be better for traveling internationally and being able to get 3G in most countries?
Looking at wikipedia it seems that the T-Mobile phone supports the same 3G frequencies as the I-9300(except for 900Mhz) but it also has something called AWS. AWS appears to be prevalent on 3G in some South American countries. Is this something that should be important for me
?
Also most countries that use the 900Mhz frequency also support the 2100Mhz frequency, if I have one but not the other will my phone still get 3G speeds?
I've been researching this for a while but I am going crazy with all the different words like UMTS, AWS, frequencies and etc..... so any help would be very much appreciated.
Oh in South America I will be mostly in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.
Thanks again for any help!
