I would say it depends on your intended use.
I had a 1st Gen iPad, and then a Galaxy Tab (wanted to switch out to Android) but neither really fulfilled my needs. I really wanted something I could write on, and no combination of stylii and/or apps gave me what I needed. I happened upon the Note in Best Buy one day and after 5 minutes of playing around in S note, I was sold. I can truly be productive with this device. I sold my iPad and my G-Tab and have never regretted the decision for a second. As dportal says, it's all about the stylus.
If you are primarily interested in playing games, watching video, or doing other consumption-related activities, there are plenty of good, solid tablet options available, including this Note. But if you want to get work done, I HIGHLY recommend this. The multi-tasking capabilities, the ability to easily write on the tablet (and have your handwriting either preserved or converted to text), the ability to access Flash content...all make this a superior device IMO. Some may talk about the "poor" screen resolution but in a device of this size I challenge all but the most hard-core pixel-peepers to truly see a difference.
One caveat - you can't store applications on an SD cards (only files) without rooting the device. If rooting is not your cup of tea, you may want to consider the 32GB model vs. the 16 if you have lots of apps you are planning to install.
If I want to be picky and identify things I *don't* like, it's that the Android world in general is so flexible that configuring apps, changing settings, etc., is not always intuitive (for me, anyway). As an example, sometimes you make a change in the master settings for your device, sometimes through the app, sometimes through an icon that looks like a cog, another time through an icon that looks like a wrench, etc. Thankfully, the folks on this forum are helpful and I've always gotten my questions sorted out. Also, there are fewer accessories (docks, cases, etc.) for the Note than you are likely to find with an iPad, if that is an issue for you.
Good luck with your decision. I can't imagine how you might be disappointed unless there are some special iPad apps that haven't yet made their way over to the Play store in android version.
Hi Folks,
I'm new to this forum, and have been reading most of today. Great information here!!!
I just recently sold my original iPad and am contemplating an SGN 10.1 as its replacement.
With that, I am very familiar with the iPad world, but would like to get some honest feedback from those of you whom have made a similar move?
Are you glad you switched?
Is there anything on the SGN 10.1 that you don't like?
Any additional feedback?
I said to the bloke in the electronics store that if an iPad came with a stylus, then I wouldn't be inquiring about the SGN.... However, several work colleagues have the SGN's and love 'em.
Thanks in advance!
