Help SGS Fails to Turn On After Upgrade

Hi to all the expert users here, need help urgently. I connected my SGS to my laptop and Kies started, indicating that a firmware upgrade is available. I went ahead and installed the upgrade, but now the phone won't turn on. Anyone has any idea what's going on? How can I resolve the issue? The phone's screen is black, but the menu and back arrow are lit. The phone will alternate between vibrating once and three times every few seconds. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Exactly the same thing happened to mine.

Can you access recovery mode? (power off, then hold both the home button and volume up button, power on and release the buttons when you see the Galaxy S logo)

If you can, then try a factory reset. If not then the handset will have to go to Samsung to be fixed under warranty (its free!) . Mine was done in one of their UK centres and only took a few days to be returned.

Hope you get it sorted soon!

Hi TechGrin, I've tried, but it doesn't work. Guess it'll have to go back to Samsung then. Crap! Thanks for your help anyway. Cheers, and Happy New Year!

OK. I figure I might have committed the fatal error of forgetting to remove lagfix before upgrading (yeah, dumb me!!!). Any remedy to fix that, other than sending the phone back to Samsung?

Same thing... did official Bell Froyo update (prior to it being pulled). Kies showed successful, restarted SGS as prompted... Uh Oh wont boot now. It's been in for repair almost 3 weeks now (for a second time).

Redownload the firmware, and flash it with odin.
I also forgot to remove lagfix before. Now its working great! :o

Erm... how to re-download the firmware? Sorry this may sound like a stupid question, but I don't have a clue what to do. :p Anyway, I sent in my phone to Samsung for repair (Singapore site). It was done in an hour's time. I got my phone back now, but I would still like to know what to do if i repeat the same mistake in the future.

Good luck, and hope that you'll get your baby back soon! :)
