Help sgs3 orange/EE help

Hi guys I'm desperately in need of help. Basically my handset is still on 4.0.4 it is an orange branded handset with no update option in the settings. I've tried calling orange customer services who can't help they keep tellin me to use kies. Problem is my handset won't connect to kies on my pc laptop or even my work computer. Orange say it's not the handset which is at fault so can't replace it.

Any help appreciated

I think more technical info is needed to assist.

Re Kies: what os are you using to install. Have you tried uninstalling/ reinstalling, updated etc. How are you trying to connect the phone to kies. any particular errors?

Can i add that the international s3 has an inherant fault that can completely kill the device at random. Theres a fix in the 4.1.2 update. If the phone cant be updated then its very much Orange's problem and in their interests to help. Dont take any of their crap mate :thumbup:
P.s, is it normal for an Orange branded phone to have the ota update option removed, anyone?

Root the thing, and join the rest of the party on 4.2!!

Seriously, have a look in device manager and uninstall all drivers for the phone. Unistall Kies.

Reboot the PC WITHOUT the phone connected.
Reinstall KIES
Connect the phone and let windows find the drivers. (Should work for XP/Vista & 7)
