Sharing pictures via text

With my previous phone, when browsing Facebook, I could view a picture and share it via text message, email, etc. On this phone, when I share a picture, a lot of sharing options are available but not by text message. Is there a way to turn that option on? I didn't see it in any of the menus, so I'm assuming it's something that was overlooked. Let me know if I'm mistaken.
 
It shows up on mine, when i hit share i got hit with that htc share thing, i said no thanks and then the long list formed, "messages" is listed ,take a look might have looked passed it

I also don't have messages listed when trying to save it (to share save etc you have to hit the menu option once you open the full size picture and then select share, the menu comes up when you tap on the 3 little dots at the bottom of the picture screen). You can save / download the photo to your gallery and then share via message (not sure why facebook is like this, ios version is the same way, I have to use an ipad at work).
 
I must have an old version of facebook because I can't find the menu option. Not sure how to even check the version I'm using either. I know it's older because I refuse to allow the new permissions
