Shift Key on Thunderbolt

Forgive me in advance for the stupid question, but what key is the shift key on the Thunderbolt. I have tried to put dashes and other symbols in emails but for the life of me cannot figure out how to do it.
 
I haven't used the HTC ime keyboard for some time but if I remember correctly isn't there an up arrow? That is you shift key.
 
I believe if you long hold the key with the corresponding sign [dash, numbers, other signs etc], you will get that character [at least that is what works in the Incredible].

For the commonly used symbols(light gray above the letters), you can long press the letters and it will show up. For the rest, press the [12#] key next to the return button, then press the [1/2] key for the rest.
