Shiloh Battlefield

Many times, watching old westerns, the word Shiloh pops up. I knew it was a historical battlefield during the civil war, but that was about all I knew about it.

My placed in Tennessee is only about 25 miles from the Shiloh Battlefield so I went to Shiloh today. It was a real learning experience. I had no idea how brutal that battle was. You can spend hours there going through all the markers and exhibits

I had no idea. That's a crazy battle. To be honest, I'm not familiar with all the various Civil War battles. I'm gonna have to read up on the battle.

I could educate you on the Civil War. I've read many books on it, and visited a few battlefields. There's a lot most American's don't know.

Here is a monument to Clara Barton, the Founder of the American Red Cross, the Angel of the Battlefield, at Antietam, MD, the deadliest single day battle in US History. If you notice the Red Cross in the base of the monument, it is made of bricks from her birthplace in Oxford, Massachusetts, where I was born and raised.

This is just fascinating. I went to Shiloh many times during my cub / boy scout days.
