Help Shooting video on the EVO

I haven't tried shooting any video on my EVO yet. Is it really worth it or should I just stick with my digital camcorder?
How much video can I take with the 8 gb micro-sd card?
Any input on this will be appreciated.

The video is highly compressed. Its good for spur-of-the-moment type stuff, but I would definitely not use it for anything important.

Also don't shoot in 720p because the playback is horrible. Really choppy and freezes a lot.
