Shortcuts to enable email sync

I've got a Nexus One on which I'm running Cyanogen 6.1. I use the stock email app for connecting to work exchange. I've got it to setup to sync with it manually because I don't want it to waste battery syncing when I'm not working and not interested to read email. It would be handy to be able to turn email sync (even set it to push) during office hours but keep it manual outside office hours. Does anyone know of any way of doing this? Perhaps with a command line switch on the email app? I'd prefer to stick with the stock app for this if possible.

Not what you want to hear but Touchdown can do this.

You could use the Power Control widget to toggle sync as needed.

I heard about Touchdown. I'd really rather use the Stock app because it does everything else I want. The Power Control widget is too crude. I just want to turn on and off sync'ing of the Exchange connection not also that of the Gmail and other apps.

I'd hoped there might be an app out there that can make custom commands or macros. All that I want to do is available via the GUI. If something like that cook be hooked into Tasker I'd be a very happy camper.
