Hi guys I'm new to the forum but been using android phones for about 3 years.

Hello, drgreenthumb92, welcome to Android Forums! :)

As an ex-DHD owner, I'd say you can't go far wrong with the phone. It served me well for 2 years and I only got rid when an (ex) mate "borrowed" it from me (only to disappear).

I don't think

Thanks for the quick reply and looks like I'm getting a d hd then ive also considered the Vodafone smart 3 or waiting a week or two so I can afford the new Motorola moto g which sounds really good for the price but I'm still drawn to the d hd because I wanted it back when it came out.

Can the phone handle higher end games like moderncombat or fl commando, the 1.5gb memory also puts me off can apps be installed onto an external sd card if so how easily is this done?

I'm sorry guys if some of these questions are quite stupid or have been covered 100s of times

To be honest, I never really did any gaming on my phone. It could handle GTA though (if that helps?).

As for the memory, I never really had any issues with it. You can use an external SD card though... I never used apps2sd, but I would imagine that you should be able to do that.

Don't worry... no stupid questions... you can only find out by asking! ;)

it's a great phone and still has a great dev community so there's still a little bit of life in here yet.

That being said, for the price there are probably better specced newer phones on the market that would give you more bang for your buck.

If gaming is your thing, you'd definitely be better off waiting for the Moto G, it's a faster CPU and a bigger/better processor.

Gimme a second, I'll power up my DHD and see if Modern Combat is compatible. :)

Thanks alot man and if GTA works its all good, thanks alot guys my mind is made up I'm buying the DHD on Friday .

Now to look at rooting and roms is there any particular roms that stand out from the rest ?

To be honest, it's an age since I used my DHD... it's only a dim and distant memory that GTA worked! :o

With regards to ROM's... it really depends what you're after. I preferred Vanilla Android to HTC's Sense based ROM's and pretty much stuck with various builds of CyanogenMod :)
