Many options in mid range category
Samsung Galaxy Mini :Decent and will get gingerbread .

Dell XCD 35 : ZTE Blade:Orange Francisco .Official Cyanogen Mod 7 support plus clockwork mod recovery.Which means awesome .Nice hardware too. It's a win-win phone.Resolution and RAM much better than mini

Optimus One : It's still better than mini due to CM 7 port and higher resolution and more RAM.

For the Long run Dell XCD 35 or ZTE Blade is the best bet .Cyanogen Mod support is much better than Samsung/LG can ever provide !!!!

he is right. And 1 more thing about galaxy mini is samsung service sucks..Because this phone is new they have few parts available for repairing , if ur phone bricks. My own experience. I bought this phone about 1 month and seven days ago.. But after 1 week it bricks and then i give it to customer service but they said they have no parts to repair(motherboard) and 1 month has gone and i still didn't get my set back....They said motherboard will come 5 july and told me to wait....
I won't recommend this phone to buy... U should switch to optional

Ok..here in india only samsung and lg andros(entry level) are good.. then for my budget only the following are available..
Lg optimus me..
Sony erricson X8..
Samsung galaxy 3..
Galaxy mini..
Sony erricson x10 mini..
Dell xcd 28..which among this is good..?

So Dell XCD 35 then LG optimus one

trust me wait a longer and buy the above .These both are quality sets and for the long run.The extra 2K is worth it!!

SE phones are dated
as fahim says ,samsung care sucks way beyond.(personal experience too)

dell xcd 35 or 28 will be great. Another phone Huawei U8500. Very nice with low price. One thing i like about Huawei is that , they have tones of parts and if ur set get bricked they will change ur motherboard withing 15 munites where samsung will at least take about 1 month or more.....

lg optimus ??? nvr go for it... its priced at 7.9k here in kolkata...lower than mini. the price has drastically come down after a disastrous feedback frm its customers...its harware is highly unstable...two of my frnds had it, and both of them got their ram messed up within a month of moderate use..and hardly 20-30 apps on the sd card.

Hey..mitra_jit2005..which optimus are you talking about..optimus me or optimus one...? 7.9k....! Here in karnataka its about 10k...what about the micromax a60 and price mi-310..? Any ideas..any body..?

I dont know about Optimus me but LG Optimus One is a quality phone.
It looks you have never met samsung care guys .I had a nice(very horrible) experience on the second day .
Both my friends have LG Optimus One and have suffered no problems. The RAM is 512 MB and screen resolution 320x480 !!
Dell XCD 35 has even higher reso 480 x 800 and looks beautiful
Couple it with cyanogenmod 7 it's an absolute killer !!

It depends .micromax is huwaei I think .I dont know about spice.
When it comes to androids
HTC > LG=>samsung > SE in mid range category .
the ZTE Blade has official CyanogenMod status .
Then it all boils to what you want.

Small smartphone ,no interest in upgrade - Galaxy mini(Samsung takes a long time to give update)

A better smartphone, expensive, decent support :- LG optimus One

A smartphone with strong developer support, expensive :Dell XCD 35

A smartphone with strong developer and company support : HTC WIldfire

Ok..thank you guys for the reply..then i will in for optimus one..but got to wait as i am tight on budget...is official gingerbread out for optimus one..?any new phones in mid range going to be launched soon...?

well..to who says +ve stuff about lg service, my lg tv got bricked after a voltage fluctuation, lg service centre said that something has happened that has turned my warranty void. later, the mechanic who repaired it, said just the internal MCB was turned off...

i am happy with my samsung. some people tend to like the things they dont have (not pointing at anyone). personally, i dont have much affinity for lg.

Best thing ask your friends who have androids about the service of particular company.
In mumbai samsung sucks and lg is good .In Kolkata LG sucks and samsung is good
(according to mitra_jit2005).
You are living in karnataka so we cant really comment on the services provided there.
Different people different views.

What you buy is soley your responsibility and decision .If you buy LG/Dell and it is corrupted then you cant blame me .If you buy samsung mini and it becomes corrupted you cant blame mitra_jit2005.

Technically Dell XCD 35 is the most superior mid range phone.

Service is all Dependant on people present and resources at hand. It's variable quantity.

Software wise both LG and samsung suck thru update cycle.

CyanogenMod is way faster and it has official compatibility with Dell XCD 35(ZTE Blade)

@mitra_jit2005
I have bad experiences with samsung(Android),nvidia,Western digital, ASUS ,nokia customer services.
On the contrary I have good experiences with Sony Ericsson, samsung(Cheap phone) and Seagate .
You cant predict the outcome of service we will receive at a particular time :D

Yeah. I agree at that point. The customer service completely depends on the people associated at a particular service centre. But at the same time a fact must cross one's mind as to how can a company provide you with a better hardware at a lower price... Something must be amiss and thats, quality. Citing as an example I must point to micromax a70 ...it packs in a 5 mp cam and a good resolution too. And is estimated to be priced at 9k .. Whereas a HTC with same configuration will be priced at anything not less than 14k ... That's the difference I am talking about... Quality vs quantity. Mini for quality and optimus for quantity.

Agree with both of you..thats right every thing in this world has its own pros and cons.."nothing is perfect" in the world...got to handle its dissablites after having one..i think in the town where i live samsung has a better service center than lg..well asking my friends would not give me a solution as they are all nokia fan boys and they doesnt know anything about androids...! They just require a phone with a nice cam and a speaker with facebook working on it...then i will check which service provider is better and buy one..for that matter i have a nokia 3110c i went to flash it at the nokia care but they said they were unable to and gave it back..! All the files are corrupted and cant download any apps or games...! And i am still using it(cant even open the music player)...thats why i am worried in taking another mob and enquiring before taking it and rather than regreting after buying..and thats why i am not buying a micromax that they dont have a service center here at all..

I'm not sure why so many people consider the Dell XCD 35 a better phone. It has 1 just 1 advantage over the galaxy mini, bigger screen resolution, the XCD 35 screen Size 480 x 800 pixels, 3.5 inches and the mini 240 x 320 pixels, 3.14 inches, that is the only advantage.

Galaxy Mini advantages over the XCD 35:

supports more 2G and 3G network bands (GSM 850, HSDPA 900)

Proximity sensor for auto turn-off

SD max 32GB, 2GB included (None included on the XCD 35 and it only supports upto 16gb)

Wi-Fi 802.11 "n" Supported (This is a newer standards to b/g)

Geo tagging

Android 2.2 out the box (XCD 35, 2.1 out the box)

FMS radio supports RDS

Mini weighs less (Smaller battery in the mini, however battery life is debatable on both devices, no clear winner on battery)

There is ClockWorkMod and Cyanogen support for mini/pop. Am running it right now. Although it's not official but might become official too.

Having said that check out LG Optimus P500 and Dell XCD35 both are built pretty well.
