Should I Buy?

I am considering the Samsung Galaxy 10.1.

I am returning my HP Touchpad today as I am not impressed.

Should I exchange for the Galaxy?

Thx

assuming you want a HC tablet... then I guess what you're asking is if its worth the premium over the other, much cheaper HC tablets, like the Transformer? Hard question to answer for you, but for me, it was worth it. Mostly because a tablet without any accessories, cables or chargers is very inconvenient. I had no trouble finding all sorts of covers, sleeves, cables, chargers, and other stuff for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I loved the Transformer by itself, but couldnt find ANYTHING except the keyboard dock I didnt want. As for the Thrive and Acer? I use mine for photography so the non-ips screens were not very good for my use.

I would, the galaxy tab is great and with the touchwiz UX update, it enhances the user experience and fixes a lot of bugs!

Thanks,

I just exchanged my HP Touchpad for the 16 GB Galaxy Tab.

A liitle more than I wanted to spend especially since the good deal at Staples for the TP at $299. I was able to use a $50 off Office Max Pricematch and $25 Staples coupon so it came to $425 plus tax.

I will update tonight.

My GT was DOA. I believe it was an opened box.

Just returned to Staples and ordered a new for delivery tomorrow.

Well, having finally seen a Transformer at BB today, I'd actually go with it would it have not been for the $100 discount Staples was running (don't think they're still doing it). It's not quite as thin or light, and has a much larger bezel, but the screen is great. If you're able to compare them side by side, try it. I love my GT, but I'd get the Transformer for $100 less if I had to.

I had the Transformer for that very reason, the price difference. When Staples came out with the $100, I jumped on the SGT. But again, my main with the ATF is that it charges at 15V. Essentially, if you want it charged in the car, you have to 1) find a second cable - nearly impossible and very short anyway then 2) use a AC to DC converter. Booo! ok, know there are hacked cable instructions on XDA, but I'm not gonna do that. Plus, the heat and quirky behavior of their charger had me worried. I did find it getting very warm and not charging when I had the "Asus" upside down. Ummm, AC?? why should that matter so much? It also creaked alot within a few days and my buttons were so loose (power and volume) that they constantly rattled around. I really didnt have any problems with light bleed. I could have lived with and mostly been happy with the ATF had accessories been out already and the Staples coupon didnt appear in my inbox at the right time.

I bought the 10.1 tablet, thought it was pretty cool for about 3 days. Then I realized nobody is developing apps for honeycomb. 98% of what I could do with the tablet I was already doing on my phone, which I had with me more often.

One month later it was sitting on my desk, hardly ever being used.

Sold it 2 weeks ago, haven't missed it.

I am a fan of Android, I like Samsung for the most part. I just think the Honeycomb tablets were an overhyped mess.

I have bought the 4G Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I love it. So far I don't have issue except the apps. Yes, there are not many apps available for the tablet. And I have found that the apps for phones do not work well on the tablets and I occasionally got "force close" error.

With that being said, I don't need a lot of app in the first place. I use my Tab for email (it is great for Gmail), Google Calendar, Google Docs, TweetDeck, Google+, FourSquare, Picasa and some news apps. All these are working great, so I have no complain. :)

I don't use my Tab for games or movies (for the most part). If I want to play game, I rather use my XBox 360. If I want to watch a movie at home, I rather run it on my laptop and hook up to my big screen HD TV (when it comes to movie, size does matter ;) ). Now, if I am travelling, I will rip some movie DVD and upload to my Tab which has 32GB storage space and then watch it.

So personally, the small number of apps is not a deal-breaker to me. And I believe the number should increase in the next 6 months or so.
