Should I make the switch?

I need advice on if I should get this phone. I had a HTC one V for the longest time, it was pretty beat up but I used it until the very end. I got the LG Tribute instead but I find the camera and screen resolution to not be that great.
I saw the ad for this phone for $40 and if it is worth buying since I've had my LG Tribute for only a month. The Tribute is fine but things like the resolution, camera and even the lack of a photo gallery to be a nuisance sometimes. Will it be a much of a difference that I can be satisfied that I bought another phone so soon? Thanks.

The Volt has the same processor and RAM as the Triumph so it will run the same. 8/1.3MP camera, 4GB storage, higher pixel density. It will definitely be a step up in all the areas you are dissatisfied with the Triumph.

Yeah I love how snappy and responsive the Tribute is so I'm glad to hear that it will satisfy those problems for me.
And a 3000mah battery stock! That's not common by any means.
Great! I'm super paranoid when it comes to battery life and that's great to hear.

One more thing, just saw Best Buy is having a sale on the Galaxy S III for $80. I know it's a few years old but does the Volt hold up to it as well? Is the Volt being more modern an advantage as far as OS is concerned and possible future updates?

Honestly theres no telling about future updates... lg claimed we get a stock "L" update but who knows. I do say the Volt is the best stock phone you will get for under $80. If you want to modify this isn't the first choice today.

Where did you see that bit about getting Lollipop?

As for modifying, we have root, and thanks to Bump, we have custom recovery with ROMs forthcoming.

That's not an official list from LG, it's just Techno's Amigos estimate. There's a disclaimer note under the table.

as far as i can tell the $80 S3 is for sprint prepaid, but would be great if if it was for boost and/or virgin too. spec wise, i would think the S3 would be better in many ways with a faster processor, (1.5 instead of 1.2) twice the ram (2gb rather then 1gb), twice the internal memory (16gb rather then 8gb).

I've just purchased one of these phones (Boost) yesterday and can't root or downgrade. Neither towelroot or manual will root it. However if anyone knows of another possibility I'm game to try. Also , Bump? What do i have to look foward to when i finally get root?
