Should I root?

Hey, I'm kinda new to android, and was wondering if I should root. I want the features of root, but I'm kinda iffy about everything else. All I really want it for is things like wifi tethering and hiding apps, and I don't know any code. I'm also worried about voiding my warranty and bricking my phone. Please advise. Thanks

bricking is nigh on impossible unless you mess with the Radio too badly

you can flash back a stock ROM and Recovery
