Should I switch to ATT?

I currently have Verizon, I got a new job and I can barely get a signal inside the office building. Outside of the office the reception is good and I can get 17 down 8 up on LTE. They have ATT repeaters in the building to support the government blackberries and I tested a coworkers iphone and he gets good call reception in the building and gets about 4 down and 1 up on 4g. I tested ATT at a corporate store and could only get 8 down and 1 up.

From what I've read Verizon will be faster in the long run since they have been increasing capacity while ATT is still working on coverage.

But, I don't get coverage 9 hours of the day in the office on Verizon. So, I'm not sure whether to switch to ATT or not. If I switch I'll get coverage in the office but slower speeds outside the office

I asked if I could install a signal booster for Verizon but I'm not allowed.

I have Verizon AND AT&T at the moment. Let me explain.

I have been a loyal Verizon customer for about 15 years. Their customer service was great! I had poor signal at my home and they gave me a signal booster. That is great except when my internet goes out.. which takes out my home phone AND my cell service. :-( The signal quality in my area (outskirts of pittsburgh pa) has been mediocre at best and I was getting scared that I could be out on the road and break down with no cell service.

I still have my Verizon plan and phone and went to AT&T last Friday and picked the 10gb for $160 along with my daughter and my son in law. We all had verizon phones and so far the signal strength is much better than Verizon in most places.

If you start a plan with AT&T you have 14 days to try it and only have a $35 restocking fee on the phone if it doesn't work out for you.

So my suggestion is... Try it and keep your Verizon so you can compare the two for 14 days. Good luck!!

Have you also tested AT&T reception at your home and other places you spend time? It wouldn't be worth switching if unless they have a signal there as well.

If I decide to go with ATT can I port my number over or should I cancel the ATT then sign up again then port?

You can port it over later if you want. I think they quoted us $36 to do it later but free if you do it when you buy the phone.

I will work with 3 assumptions:
1. no work wifi to use.
2. ATT service is OK/good in all places you go to daily: home, play...
3. save some $$ as well

so.. 9 hrs every day.. your phone is not usable on Verizon. that is more than a 1/3 of a day. which you are paying for NOTHING!! so.. a 1/3 of your monthly bill goes to nothing!!!

so.. the logical answer.. switch!!!

I'm thinking about trying AT&T Pay As You Go plan...I'm not quite satisfied with T-mobile in MO. I know this is AT&T area but Tmo just not cutting it for me most of the time.

I need to do compare both of them to see which is better!

I switched from Verizon to AT&T couple of months ago and couldn't be happier.
Their LTE coverage in central Texas (Austin, San Antonio) seems better than Verizon, both in coverage map and speed. No more BS delays on OS updates, new phone release!
