Should I Update (New Version)

Right now, my Verizon Note 2 is running 4.1.2.

Should I update, root, or rollback?

Here are some problems I have.

  • Almost every time I open any link, click a number, etc, I am asked which program I want to use. I've cleared the settings for the individual apps but that doesn't help.
  • Bluetooth does not stay connected.
  • In the past, if I went into a folder and then we Back, I would still be within the folder. Now, I do not have the option.
  • I have never had the option to set the "From Name" for my email accounts. Instead, it just uses my last name.

Thoughts

Thanks!

I'm open to that.

Is there something I can do to backup the apps I have and settings, etc like I use to do with iPhone?

If you're rooted, you can use an app like Titanium Backup to back up your app, along with a backup image (aka a nandroid) in recovery (in case it doesn't work, you could restore your phone back to the way it was before the reset).

O/W your apps should reinstall after wiping, assuming you have the default setting of backing up your data to Google. (Settings... back up and reset).

OTOH, if you're rooted, you might not be able to accept the next 4.3 OTA when it comes out next month. There would be other options though. Usually a rooted image comes out a day or so later which you could flash to install.

Good options. So you think Verizon will release 4.3 in a month.

Part of my reason for doing it now is to identify if the bluetooth issue is the phone or a software issue before my warranty expires.
