about dingtone accessing my bfs address book in his mobile should he and i uninstall dingtone to be on the safe side ?

What kind of app is dingtone? I'm not finding it in the play store. It's going to depend on what the app does to know if it access the address book is a concern.

an app like viber where u can call and text for free someone told they saw a review by a person that they can access your address book for money?? should just have him uninstall it cus we viber anyway and viber is safe

Dingtone is available in the play store. It's got 100k-500k installs and decent reviews so if it were doing something nefarious with your information I think it would be known pretty quickly.

That said, taken from the Dingtone Privacy statement:

You need to permit Dingtone to access your address book in the mobile device. A simplified copy of the address book with information of name, phone number, ringtone of each contact will be stored in Dingtone servers. The phone numbers of eact contact are encrypted by an irreversible way. The phone numbers and name of your contacts are used to build your Dingtone friend list.

Dingtone also collects information such as the mobile device ID, device name, OS type and version, and IP address to make certain Dingtone functions work.

Dingtone does not disclose, release your phone number, contacts information, or device information to any third parties.

Certain Dingtone features require access to the location information for your mobile phone. Some features, such as "Find Nearby Friends" also store your location information in our servers, and share your location information with other Dingtone users. If you are concerned about the privacy of your location information, we recommend you do not use those features.

Read the entire policy.

If that concerns you, then you may want to uninstall it and use an alternative.

I explained why the app needs access to your Contact list in your other thread here.

The app is available in the Play Store and has over 4000 ratings, the vast majority 3-star or above. I'd say that makes it pretty safe. :)
