Help Should I...

...go for the s2 skyrocket? I'm on metropcs and want to upgrade from the lg motion to a gsm phone now that they are supporting gsm phones. I'm on a 300-350$ budget, and I'm torn between the s2 skyrocket and the nexus 4. Obviously the nexus 4 is more current with today's technology being quad-core, but the thing that kills me about it is that it's only got up to 16gb of memory with no expandable memory, and also it does not support 4glte (Probably Metro's main saving grace). The s2 skyrocket supports lte, has expandable memory, but the display is not full hd and it's only dual-core. The display is not that huge a deal breaker for me, but one thing that I REALLY want to be able to do is play the cool games from play store like "modern combat4" or "real racing". Neither of which I can play on my current device. :( (but shadowgun deadzone is holding me down for now-I love that game) So, I guess my main questions are: can this device play the cool games designed for higher-end devices from play store? Also, how does the resolution look when it is transmitted to hdmi via usb (mhl)? I use bluetooth controllers for some of my emulators; how is the bluetooth compatability on this bad boy? Of the s2 models, it seems that the skyrocket gives you the most bang in terms of compatability. Also one last question: is it possible to upgrade from gingerbread to ICS with this device? I've had a hand at JB, but one feature that it's lacking which is one of my favorite features of ICS is flash-player compatability. Absolutely 156% critical for streaming flash videos from some of those free-movie websites. (I won't say any names here, but just do a quick google search and you'll find them pretty easily) That's it, those are my main concerns. Thank you in advance for your help! On a side-note I've noticed that devs have had a nice go at this phone with roms. If I decide to go for the skyrocket, I will definitely be dabbling with those when I wanna spice things up a bit. Although usually once I start flashing things, I tend to go a little crazy with it. :) Cheers!

Hello :)

Let's see, to start off, Jellybean does support flash.
You have to go to Adobe's archives and download the latest 11.1 version for Android. It says it's for ICS but it's been proven to work on Jellybean. (I'm using it on my JB Galaxy S2). It just doesn't work on the Chrome browser.

With your budget, you can buy a used Galaxy S3 for around $300
Samsung Galaxy s 3 III SGH I747 4G LTE at T 16GB Blue Great Condition 635753500028 | eBay

My Galaxy S2 could run Modern Combat 4, but I refunded it because I wasn't really interested in the game.
I can't tell you how the quality is when connected via HDMI since I've never done so.

Odd, I tried the latest flash player on cm10.1 using dolphin browser, and it wouldn't let me saying"sorry, adobe has discontinued flash support and is not compatible with android 4.1 or higher." What browser did you use to get it to work? Also, I saw some used gs3's within my budget, but I like to get my devices brand new. Guess I'm kinda OCD like that. I guess after fiddling with my phones to death and putting them through hell, I like to know that they haven't been there already. : ) Knowing that it can play modern combat is a huge help though. Definitely puts this phone in the running against the nexus for me.

I stopped reading your thread when I came across 300-350 budget for a skyrocket. The skyrocket will be 2 years old in 5 months or so. I can't wait to get rid of the skyrockets and get some newer technology. That seems like a lot of money to me. Good luck in your search.

Actually, I found a couple sky rockets for less than 250. The max I'm willing to spend is 350 on a new phone (I'd never pay that much for a device this old). It's hard to find a current high end device brand new for that price, except the nexus 4. Again main problem that I have with that one is the very limited storage memory. So not too happy with yours eh? Well all opinions are welcome as I'm trying to get an objective idea as to what is my best solution.

Dolphin Browser just updated and it includes flash so you should have a go at it.
I used the stock browser and firefox.
