Root Shouldn't I be able to do this?

Ok, so I backed up my phone with CWM, I just received a new replacement phone, shouoldn't I be able to just restore to the new one? I try, but it sticks at the "M" then reboots.

Oh another note as well, after installing CWM, when I go into it, it says:

E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command


And a few other "Can't open" but it lets me restore it, then just sits at the "M"

Yup, wiped, and wiped again.

**EDIT**

Ok, for some reason it won't boot while it is plugged in, I unplugged it, and it booted fine, tried again with it plugged in, and it wouldn't boot, unplugged, booted fine.

Also, my PC will not see the new phone now.
