Show off your 360 with different bands and faces

I had my eye on this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AW0BMJG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3W3HO0KRGKITM&coliid=I1AVB8Z26WZQ6B

But I can't figure out how to remove the stock strap. You guys need to do a step-by-step YouTube tutorial on this. I can't be the only one who would be eternally grateful :)

Just buy the watch kit or band removal tool, and he shows at the beginning of the video, very easy...Just use the prong to squeeze in on the connector and it comes out.

That band might not work Chief. If the underside where the band connects to watch doesn't have a notch in it, it might not fit?

The notch shouldn't have anything to do with it. It's the size (22mm) and the depth (which, I don't think anybody has posted) of the band that is most relavent.

The piece that connects the band to the watch is for a 22mm band.

One thing that Apple did I like was the watch bands, just slide them in and out. I would like to see something like that on the next version.

That guy said that notch is necessary because there's something inside that would prevent a non-notched band from fitting? The weird thing about that is the pin has to fit through there, notch or no notch. I don't know personally I haven't taken mine apart.

I'm not convinced. The rod/connector is straight and goes through that notch, so it has to be based on the thickness, rather than the notch.

If the notch plays a factor, metal bands can typically be modified, when there are separate links.

All I know is I saw a post on reddit that I can't find right now that showed bands with notch's, both leather and metal, basically saying good. And bands, both leather and metal, without notch's saying bad.

We'll soon see. I have my watch coming in by Friday and my replacement band should be at my house, by the time I get home. The band I bought, doesn't have the notch, so if it doesn't end up working, I'll just return it.

If it has to have that notch, it shouldn't have to be that deep. Like we said, the pin goes through there. If there was some huge protruding thing on the interior of the phone where it attaches, the pin itself would be in the way.

If your watch band comes and you have a hard time getting it in place, I'd consider a small amount of modification with a Dremel :D

I've scoured Amazon and eBay. Notched watchbands are a pretty rare species! It seems that the required notch only exist on Moto 360 watchbands.

I don't know where these guys got their watchbands, but there isn't anything on the market that I want that happens to have a notch.

Time to DIY!

If it is the same video, my apologies.

As for the tool.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000RB5BL0?pc_redir=1410499750&robot_redir=1

No worries. Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, that won't work with the stainless steel band I got, but I can easily modify it, if needed. Just have to see if the thickness can fit on the moto 360.

I hope Chris' review holds true, when it comes to the bands:

Motorola Moto 360 review: not perfect and it doesn't have to be

In particular, the bolded part of the quote is what I'm hoping for, lining up with my theory that I mentioned earlier.

If leather doesn

Look at the band that this user replaced the leather straps with:

I really do think it'll come down to how thick the band is, in order for it to work, rather than that notch! Crossing my fingers that the watch I bought will work.

More evdience it's about the thickness of the band, not the notch:

Another band installed, but apparently a jewler did some cutting to make it work:

Just got my metal band installed on my moto 360. : moto360

I actually like this band, but it wasn't one of the metal ones shown, when the 360 was formally released:

I may try getting one similar off amazon, in the event the one I purchased doesn't work.

Here ya go, another one:

As much as I like that one, I think I'll be stock for a bit when my until comes in. I really want to give the battery a week long test run before I start messing with things. However, you guys are really putting some nice looking bands and faces on your watches. Let us know how the battery does.

I'm not sure how much testing Apple did with their watch. All I can say is you don't want a $350 falling off your wrist. I know why they have their bands setup easily to remove but I have a little bit of solace knowing it takes a skilled jeweler about 2 minutes to get the band off the moto 360. That tells me hell or high water that $250+ watch won't be coming off of my wrist. If I was an Apple customer I would have some concerns. Is it easy to get a top of the line watch band off like Rolex, Swiss watches, or any other high end watch? Nope, there is a reason for that I suppose.

I had two knowledgeable jewelers who said to wait for Motorola to come out with other bands. I have no doubt Motorola will provide us with fashionable bands. Why? The leather bands on the watches come from Horween leather in Chicago. That stuff isn't cheap and will cost over $100 a band easily. Also, two of the jewlers had concerns about any aftermarket bands doing damage to the watch. One jeweler commented on the exquisite machinery of the watch. Because it looks like the band is a single piece but it isn't. He said that is no easy task to machine a watch that way. Apple has a lot of catching up to do.

I must be the only one that really likes the watch band that came with it. I have the black on black and I have to tell you, this is SUPER comfortable. I have a slightly expensive aviation watch with a metal band I used to wear all the time and I'd get sweaty under it and it would get very uncomfortable. The leather that's on the 360's is like it's invisible. I forget I have it on.
