Showing multiple phone numbers in Dialer

I've looked all over and can't seem to find a way to show multiple numbers for a contact when searching using the dialer. Is there a way to show them, or do I have to click on the contact and view it to see the extra phone numbers?

The ONLY way I can think of is to "long press" the contact in the dialer and select View Contact...not exactly what you are looking for as just going into people would probably be easier!

you can scroll left/right with the trackball when on the dialer to see if there is another number available. this works best if you know that a person has two numbers
