Root signal issues

Ok, I have rooted my Precedent. Now I am looking to aid or change the radio in my phone. The signal where I live is sad.((TN)) I have heard about mods that can change the radio signal in the phone. I have also heard about changing the PLR. How can I do this to my phone to increase signal. I do not need a big signal boost but would like to use my phone at work and maybe talk to someone without the call dropping. Please keep in mind that I am a novice with both Android, Rooting, and Mods. Please help before I have to get another phone and no longer have the power of the Droid.

I realize money is an issue, it was for me, the first thing I did once my phone was initialized was download OpenSignalMaps

With the app running you can visualize the radar, compass, or even Google Maps to see which antenna your droid is currently associated with.

If you happen across any extra $ you might invest in a cell booster off Ebay or Solid Signal. If deep in the woods, you'll want a directional antenna pointed down the RED LINE

I had already invested in one when I was w/ATT.

I hope other options open up for you soon.

If you have to purchase a new service, please use AntennaSearch to find what is in your 4 mile radius for an educated purchase.

I have explored the opensignalmap app. I have also look into signal boosters and repeaters. Besides the cost of these, they only work where you are. I would need to buy a portable one which would be weak, or move the other between my work and home, everywhere else it works ok. I was hopeing for some kind of app or hack to rom to help with this. Or maybe a way to change the PLR from their prepaid service to the contract service. Maybe soon there will be something written to help in this area. Thank you, for your responce, all advice helps.
