signal issues

im wondering if this may just be my phone or if other people are having this problem..

today im driving down the road headed to a friends house.. on stock unrooted v6... signal said 3g and 3 bars.... i go to call my friend and it says dialing... stays there for about 15 seconds then says call ended.... never rang.. a little later i dropped a call.... i never dropped a call with my fascinate and ive drove through that spot many times...

right now.. my spectrums signal is -73dbm 3g... -110dbm 1x.... ive never seen the 2 equal..... shouldnt the signal used to make calls and send texts be always getting the better signal?

verizon is shipping me another with 5 day shipping.... so hopefully when i get the new one i wont run into the same issues
 
Good thing they're sending you a new phone...

I've never dropped a call, but I do notice that when I check battery usage cell standby shows % time without signal and mine usually indicates a pretty significant number. And yet I've never missed or dropped a call...

I havent got any dropped calls before but I have noticed that 1x always has less than 3g. But never that much of a difference. usually 1x is around 5 db's higher than 3g is
 
im thinking i just got either a messed up phone.... i really love this phone.. but if the next one has problems im gonna complain and push for a htc rezound
