Signature?

Yeah, pretty wonky..
your sig will show up on every post when using quick reply until you refresh the thread/page. then it is supposed to go back to the once per thread per page format
Not sure why the "Once per thread rule", honestly if all things are equal, why not spend my time in other forums where my signature is seen more?
I am not trying to be nasty but it's not as though this only Android forum, there are tons, so why run people off with these rules?
Some people spend time in forums helping other users at least partially because it gets them a little "Signature Exposure" at the same time they are helping people out. What's wrong with having a reasonable signature on all of your post and replies like you get everywhere else? XDA as far as I know does not have this restriction for example.
Anyhow, my signature is not seen even once in this thread.

I always considered that reasonable but you have every right to disagree with that. Hell if you feel that strongly about it then garner some support and start a thread specifically about changing that policy. I think you will find that the Owner/Admin are extremely reasonable and always ready to hear different views

It's tough running a forum, I ran one a few here and there with far less traffic than I am sure this forum gets. Nobody is ever happy, someone always complaining about something. In this case, it's me about the signature.
The problem is always with losers that have to take advantage of everything and spoil it for everyone. Controlling SPAM and SPAM like things is always a hassle and that's why I don't run those forums anymore.

I hear ya, I'd hate running a forum, especially one with as much traffic as we get here.
I used to be totally against sig's. Spent time on modaco and sigs there just really took away from the threads (imo). Here I don't mind as much but I will say the 'none till 25 posts' is one of the best spam catching techniques i've seen implemented here

You are right, this isn't the only Android forum on the web. There are plenty of them out there. They may not be as big, but there certainly are plenty of them. The idea behind the once per page settings, IIRC, was to help with strain on the servers and promote faster page load times. When you have 12 thousand people on a site at once the page loading times make a difference. Since most people are here seeking help and/or a sense of community with other Android users then signatures aren't that much of an issue.
As far as how the other forums operate, this isn't really like other forums and most of them don't have the restrictions that we do in some areas. You wouldn't get an infraction for insulting someone on most of the other forums, but you would here. We do things differently here and our members seem to like it. Based on the comments I've seen and received, most of them prefer it.

Please don't take this reply the wrong way. It's a general reply using you as an example since you're the current example to use.
I'm not real worried about situations like this. The signatures work as expected for the most part. I'm not sure why yours isn't showing here and normally I'd put more effort into trying to figure it out but - it's fairly clear to me you're here mostly to get exposure for your own site.
We're not here to act as a medium for people to try to funnel traffic to their personal sites. Yes, we do allow links in signatures for people who are clearly here to be an active and helpful member of the community, it's true. With that said, I'm certainly not going to stress over someone who plainly says they are going to go another Android site if they can't promote their Telephone Answering Service site.
I want our community members to want to be here because they wish to be a part of the best android community out there - not because they want to have their signature displayed to the most amount of people. All that does is promote barely acceptable replies on as many threads as you can find to do so with. If that's your concern, then please do head to any of our competitors.
As for the policies in question. Well.. we have several spam reducing policies in place and most of them are clearly worth the drawbacks we endure. This being one of them. We nearly killed all signature spam with this one - which is a hugely rising trend right now. The once per page deal is also to help with that, but it's primary purpose was to cut on server load and visual overload for our users.
No one wants to go on a thread and see the same signatures over and over and over as they scroll down the page looking for the information they need. Heck, we almost did away with them altogether, but this seemed a fair compromise.
Hope you understand. We're just looking out for our community interest, our workload, and our resources.

With all THAT said - I'm not totally opposed to fixing your signature problems. Xyro had a pretty simple suggestion. If you like, create a new account. I'll allow signatures for you, you can verify it works - then I can merge this account onto the new one and rename it to fonewiz.
