Help Silent Alerts Quickly??

Is there an easy way to silent Alerts Quickly ?.. When I go to bed at night I don't want to hear the Beeps when i get e-mail, IMs etc. But i do want to hear the phone ring. I know I can go Settings-> Sound and Display -> Silent Mode. Any suggestions?

Beautiful Widgets has a Silent widget toggle. That's the only thing I can think of...
