Silent Except for Certain Contacts??

I keep my phone on silent at night, but I want to be able to receive calls from immediate family members in case of emergency. I want something that I can add contact names to and enable the app and never have to fool with it again except to add or remove people.

I don't want something that will drain the battery much, and I don't really want something that keeps an icon in my notification bar. I hate clutter. lol But I can live with it if everything else fits..

If you're feeling tinkerish, it's pretty easy to set that up using Tasker. I have a profile that automatically silences my phone at night, but will still ring (loudly) for calls or texts from family members.

Alternatively, this app seems to claim that it will accomplish what you're after.

Why not just get a call blocker that has a whitelist facility? Then just add your 'exceptions' to that and 'block calls except for whitelisted ones'. I'm sure others can chime in on this but I use RockerBlocker - it's an add-on for RocketDialer which I use for contacts. It has a whitelist facility - just not tested it yet.

I'm a huge fan of Tasker. It's really a bargain when you consider the nearly infinite number of things you can do with it.
