Silent mode turns off by itself!?!?

Hi all,

I'm new to android and just swapped from an iphone to a LG G2. I'm having a little issue with the silent mode.

I put the phone in silent mode from the pull down menu at night but at some point in the night the phone switches silent mode off and I was awoken by a text this morning. This has happened during the day as well but I put that down to my playing with the phone and turning it off by accident.

I have searched the net and this forum, I have seen people mention apps that schedule things like this. To my knowledge I do not have any such apps. The only app I have that might do it is a snapdragon battery monitor app.

The only other thing was it was on charge?

Any ideas, or things to try would be greatly appreciated.

Only thing I can think is that it's either a problem with one of your apps .. or the phone.

Your best bet is probably to try to work out what apps you installed around the time this started happening and remove them one by one until the problem is resolved. Then toss the last app removed.

If it's not an app - say, if it's always happened - then I'd suggest you pursue the issue with LG. If you got the phone very recently, you may be able to get a replacement, alternatively they should repair it under warranty if that's what's required.
 
Or maybe use an app to set your phone to silent for specified time period - in that it would assure you that it will not come back on until that time.

Having this same issue as well And i've had 2 that have done the same thing. On VZW by the way. It will turn itself off sometime in the night. So just set a schedule of when you want it to run. I don't like you can't set more than one schedule (I want to be able to set a different time on weekends.) But for some reason it turns itself off when you manually turn it on.

Sorry you're having this issue. Be sure that you do not have your silent mode set to "ring". You also would want to check to see if there is a night setting that is overriding the silent mode.

If all is well then you may need to have your software flashed by the carrier. You should be able to take it in and they do it in-store.

They may also try a factory reset if that doesn't take care of the issue but you want to be sure to back up your phone before doing this as you will lose everything on the phone.

I can tell you this is a phone issue as I am on my second phone and it is doing the same as the first. When you try to run in manual mode it turns off it works fine on scheduled time but not in manual mode
 
I can confirm this is happening on my VZW G2 as well. Happened the first night I had the phone as well! Not sure what re-flashing the software would help since it was brand new and I had not installed any apps that would mess with scheduling, or phone controls.
 
Check your settings and see whether you set it on ring on daytime, if you set there, then it will auto turn on the ring when time reaches.
 
I know that if the phone is in silent and you use the volume button it will ask if you want to exit silent mode. Music especially.

Maybe it's a service like spotify or pandora running and making it exit.

The Verizon G2 is so weird i would switch carriers.

I've never had this happen. Mine is an original unlocked version.
